ATC vs Anywhere Map Quadra
The ATC product was based on the HP iPaq 310 device. When HP decided to discontinue the 310, we quickly bought up virtually the entire inventory of these devices that were available, as we regarded the 310 as being close to the perfect platform for our product. As the ATC sales progressed, we developed an internal wish list of features we would like in the next generation device, knowing that someday we would use up all of the 310's.
The Quadra is the answer to our wish list.
A very important consideration for us was that the new Quadra build on our success with the ATC, and that it be able to share most of the software with the ATC. This was a critical consideration for us, as it not only saves us development time but it also enhances support for the current generation ATC device. The new Quadra fully meets this criteria.
Like the ATC, the Quadra:
* Is a Portable GPS device that supports street mapping, aviation mapping, and Approach plates
* Is Completely self contained.
* Is Bluetooth enabled
* Connects to a PC computer without using Active Sync.
* Has a 4.3" high resolution touch screen
* Supports Upgrades such as XMWX, MaxNav, and Pocket Plates.
Compared to the ATC, the Quadra:
* Is Much faster -- approximately twice as fast, allowing a much more responsive user interface, even with a lot of screen density
* Supports Wireless internet (WiFi) so it can directly download database updates, fuel prices, TFR's and much more
* Has much more robust bluetooth system software which will improve the ability to connect to other accessories
* Has an even better GPS receiver, with no 250 knot speed limit and fully supports WAAS.
* Works in both Portrait and landscape mode
* Has a better battery life.

* Optional Features
The Quadra is not a PDA, and users cannot install other applcations on it, however it comes fully equipped with a host of applications installed, including Internet Explorer, which allows viewing web pages.
Since the Quadra can connect to the internet directly, no PC is needed for udpating. Also all models of the Quadra have the ability to download internet based Nexrad, Metars, and TAFS via WiFi for no additional cost to the user, beyond their standard Anywhere Map subscription.
As mentioned above the Quadra can be upgraded to use XMWX in exactly the same way as the ATC, with a few enhancements.
We will continue to support the ATC with software upgrades and bug fixes. Many new features in the Quadra software will be issues as updates for the ATC, if the ATC hardware allows it.
